Stability Enhancement and Skin Permeation Application of Nicotine by Forming Inclusion Complex with ?-Cyclodextrin and Methyl-?-Cyclodextrin

Nicotine is widely used in pharmaceutical industries, especially for smoking cessation the form of transdermal patches. gel patches has limitations from nicotine instability and high volatility. Thus, a preservation technique needed. In this study, encapsulation process using methyl-?-cyclodextrin (M?CD) investigated compared with ?-cyclodextrin (?CD) to evaluate skin permeation nicotine. The M06-2X/6-31G(d,p) density functional theory calculations indicate 1:1 host–guest molar ratio inclusion complex ?CD M?CD, which have been validated by experimental studies. efficiencies M?CD encapsulate are 59.96% 63.76%, respectively. study complexes pure shows stability improvement after being encapsulated. After 21 days, percentages nicotine/?CD nicotine/M?CD that remain 89.32% 76.22%, while only 65.56% remains. Besides one-hour tests, amounts permeated through pig gels 14 10 times as much gel, Therefore, can be enhance application nicotine-containing products.
